Owais Asif graduated as an architect in 2017.  He has worked with Chelsea West Architects and is presently at S. Ghosh & Associates in New Delhi. Asif’s interests lie in Art History, Architectural Theory, Urban Studies and Philosophy. He is particularly influenced by the monochromatic works of Piranesi, Masereel, Chittaprosad Bhattacharya and Pier Vittorio Aureli that echo his own tendency to oscillate between a play of layering and enacting only that which is absolutely necessary. He also finds himself engaging with the works of Lefebvre, Soja, Dostoevsky, and Massimo Cacciari in whose writings he finds a sense of a reassuring lived space that opposes the hegemony of power.

In his own work, Asif searches for the ephemeral that is often lost to the seductions of style and affluence, perhaps like the memory of his native Srinagar that he wishes to hold close amidst the glitz and glamour of Delhi’s clientele.

Asif also likes to design furniture.
