Hussain Indorewala is a teacher and urban researcher. He teaches planning theory, housing and humanities at the Kamla Raheja Vidyanidhi Institute for Architecture (KRVIA), and is the Coordinator of the Research and Consultancy Cell at the institute. His research work has focused on urban politics and ideology, planning epistemology, politics of land and housing and urban political economy. He writes frequently in the popular press on urban development, planning and policy. He has been active in various social movements in Mumbai for housing rights, labour rights, sustainable mobility, environmental justice and participatory planning. He works closely with community groups through the Collective for Spatial Alternatives (CSA), an action research and advocacy collective.
